The history of Midgard is littered with great heroes, both good and evil. Their deeds are chronicled here, and their identities are usually common knowledge for regular citizens. Not all of these characters are around under player control, so be ready for anything. Asura -Unavailable The first monk. All that is written of him is strictly legend without so much as a timeframe, it is known that he was a deeply religious man, whose righteous fury lead him to turn his very body into a weapon, it was said he was an unshakeable man whose faith (a faith that is assumed to Equistis, but never specified) and way of life put him at near saintly proportions. Asura also designed the infamous Asura Strike technique. It was originally designed to fight demons, but it is said that Asura's ways eventually swayed to the dark arts, and was used on humans as well. All monastic orders consider the use of this technique on humans or elves to be a great affrontery, and have been known to seek out and kill their own members who are guilty of such infractions. Auriga Mithaleil -Played by Sargas (Deceased) Auriga led the guild Eternal Struggle during the Cullings. Auriga and his men were credited for the defense of Payon, more specifically, the southern bridge. After the war the hunter disappeared without a trace, and current reports are that he died at the hands of Giri Gurhult. Balgus LeCantri -Played by Ziggy Balgus was the royal Captain of the Guard for thirty years. He battled bravely, leading his personal Squadron of Black Sheep Knights during the Cullings. A man of amazing skill and resolve at Seventy Five years of age he stood beside the private factions (guilds) who fought to preserve Prontera. There is not a single native to Prontera who is not aware of Sir LeCantri's bravery and might. Balgus retired after watching his beloved wife and daughter raped and murdered by the Orcish hordes, but has since come out of retirement to train the fledgling Albertan Militia. The Black Wolf -Played by Vergeh Believed to be responsible for several attacks throughout the continent, including the recent Pronteran prison riot. Calis Kedelamas -Played by Calis A mysterious Rogue warrior who wears a sakkat and sunglasses obsessively to shroud his face. Not much is known about his past. He fought in the Demon Crusades, actually standing against the final wave at Saint Capitolina, outnumbered almost ten to one. He also openly spoke against King Kadamos the XXIII when Kadamos the XXII began to fall ill, which quickly earned him a place on the Royal black list. Eventually, the reward for his capture alive came to two million. However, days before the Elves arrived, Kedelamas and his brother Aidan vanished without a trace. Recent reports have sighted two Rogues with similar appearances to the two warriors; however, nothing has been confirmed. Kedelamas remains at large, and the bounty remains the same. Castule Renaud -Played by Sargas (Deceased) Former head of the Assassin's Syndicate, Castule was a true aristocrat who loved nothing more than a good challenge, perhaps more than getting the actual job done. He was known to prolong his battles with his prey in order to gain a complete understanding of his victims as well as instill fear in them before their final moments, which could take as long as months for them to reach. No assassin got through the academy without his notice. Celena Savonti -Unavailable Known as "Celena the Great," Lady Savonti was a long-time suffragette, and the first woman to hold rank in the Pronteran army. She was well known for her prowess in battle and her kindness to her men. Hers was one of the twenty lives lost during the Orc Crusades. Johannes Kafra -Played by Vergeh Current president and sole stockholder of the Kafra Corporation. Kafra Corp. has spread its influence throughout the continent and outlying areas, providing storage services and government-subsidized medical care. However, the public remains largely oblivious to several non-mercantile projects under the company's supervision. The Kafra Corporation is renowned for their groundbreaking alchemical discoveries, and their shrewd, omnipresent mercantile division. Jonas Creed -Unavailable Also known as "the Bloody Murderer," this madman carved a swath of destruction across the continent fifteen years ago, before finally being brought to justice. Seven feet tall and possessing superhuman strength, the crown decided he was too valuable an asset to kill, and devoted his incarceration to attempts to determine the source of his inhuman power. During a recent riot at the Pronteran Jail, Creed escaped and is currently at large. Justine Crane -Played by Vergeh Current leader of the Crusader's Guild, known as the Royal Holy Order of Equistis, even though she herself is a Justinian. Crane served behind the lines in the Cullings at Prontera, tending to the countless wounded and heading the evacuation of the outermost homes in the city. After the fall of Radia Mellend, Justine was forced to take command of the surviving Southern Gate militia. Her extraordinary skill in battle along with her deep compassion for all living creatures has created many rumours that she is in fact the incarnation of the Goddess Justine, though she has always denied and discouraged such rumours. She has recently been recalled from her charity work off-continent to serve in Kadamos' Pronteran Guard. Gao -Unavailable The most famous of all monks. Holding an aversion to combat, his powers were just the same so advanced that it was said he could stop an army with the raising of his fists. A kindhearted, yet brilliant man, who wrote a technical manual on higher combat that, to this day, is used in training new Monks. Thirty years ago, at the age of One hundred and fifty, he left the monastery to seek one last adventure. It is unknown exactly what happened, but widely believed he died quietly somewhere in Mt. Mjolnir, never to see the horrors of the Cullings. Giri Gurhult -Unavailable The leader of the Orcish hordes. The only surviving "Hero" from the Orc Crusades, Giri rebuilt his people, using their rage and hatred toward the humans to built the army capable of striking back in the massacre known as the Cullings. Giri was the first living being to set foot inside the kingdom of Glast Heim since the destruction of the Elvish barrier. It is known that Giri contracted an alliance with the demons and that he holds powers beyond that of normal Orcs. Kaia Matsunugua -Available The man who caught Jonas Creed. Lord Kaia received a large promotion after the criminal's capture and currently oversees the bulk of the Pronteran Army, it is said he is a swordsman without equal, a man of great honor and respect. King Kadamos -Unavailable The Throne of Prontera has been passed down from Kadamos to Kadamos since the kingdom’s beginnings, over a thousand years ago. They have taken many shapes and sizes, the current King, Kadamos XXIII is known for his secrecy and reclusivity. He rules with an iron fist, declaring dissention against the crown a capital offence. Kordarani -Unavailable An infamous elven criminal. He was born, approximately 350 years ago in the elven capital of GonRyun, and organized the only Elven criminal syndicate ever known to exist. Two-hundred-fifty years ago Elven authorities rounded up every member and suspected member of this syndicate in secret. Kordarani was sentenced to death, and all of his followers were either executed or exiled from the kingdom depending on the severity of their crimes. The whole affair has been erased from Elven history, but tales still circulate among the people. Kordarani is rumoured to have escaped from his execution, and to be one of the five founders of a criminal Elven clan somewhere in Midgard. Lars Hohlgrenn -Unavailable Former head of the Knight's guild, Lars passed over a position commanding the Southern Gate militia during the Cullings, favouring a position on the front lines. His bloodlust was legendary, and he was seen hacking corpses long after the battle was over, ensuring there were no demonic survivours. After the battle, Lars left his position with the guild to pursue a career as head guard in the maximum security level of the Prontera prison. He was slain by Jonas Creed in the recent prison riot. Lucian Hyrou -Played by Ikaruga A decorated officer in the Pronteran Army. Lucian got his start serving in a special forces faction in the Pronteran Army, after the Cullings Lucian was promoted to lead the Prontera Guard, another special forces unit made specifically to watch and regulate the power of the many guilds beginning to pop up over Midgard once again. The Guard is also used to monitor and capture noted criminals on the Capitol's most wanted list. Matthew Silverburg -Unavailable Silverburg was head of a small Geffen defense force during the Cullings. His men were on route to quell a Kobold infestation when the Cullings hit, and they held position for three days despite being grossly undermanned. Upon the third day they fell back to the city, his strike force of 10 turning to only three. After the war he was stationed there with a new platoon with orders to restore the fallen city. He was killed by the legendary Castule Renaud five years ago. Radia Mellend -Played by Vergeh One of the countless promising young lives snuffed out during the Cullings, Radia graduated at the top of her class at the Wizard's academy at Geffen. A born leader, she quickly took command of the Pronteran Militia defending the south gate during the Cullings. When the call was given to fall back to the inner gates, she stayed behind, sacrificing herself to bring down a devastating firestorm, swallowing a large number of the advancing hordes even as they struck her down. Her sacrifice was one of the many that secured the city during the invasion. Swals Ralatar -Played by Zylthis Former captain of the pirate ship, the Crimson Rose. He was well-known in Comodo, and utterly infamous in the Jawaii region, but was shunned by most pirates by his unusual practice of not only allowing women to sail on his vessels, but insisting on an all-female crew. He and his crew learned firsthand just how effective the Albertan Coastal Patrol was at defeating marauding ships. After his ship was destroyed, the pirate sunk into relative obscurity. His current whereabouts and place of residence are unknown. Vergeh Liska -Played by Vergeh Daughter of a wealthy Albertan shopkeeper and part of the Pronteran social elite, Vergeh was lost and presumed dead after the Albertan Massacre. It was later revealed that she had escaped only to be later caught and interned within the prison of Glast Heim until her escape nine years later. She astounded many by defending her hometown against invasion by the dreaded pirate, Bloody Giles Bellavance, earning her the title of Champion of Alberta. Her popularity helped win her the election for Albertan mayor, after which she made a rather bold move, separating Alberta from the crown and turning it into an antonymous state. Victor Baskar -Played by Zylthis After a 25 year run as a Professor in the Geffen Magic academy, Victor Baskar retired, despite being offered the coveted position of headmaster. for the last 15 years he has resided in the town of Aldebaran. The good Professor has published two books about some of the hidden mysteries of the world, and is currently writing several more. Wes Jansen -Available Famed marksman and captain of the Pronteran Militia defending the Northern Gate of Prontera during the Demon Crusades, Wes was credited with over 1000 kills during that single battle. Growing wealthy off the fame and prestige earned after the Cullings had ended; he retired as head of the Hunter's Guild, and is currently living out his days in the former resort town of Comodo. Xian-Pu -Played by Ziggy A legendary Elven woman who first appeared in rumours during the Cullings. Stories of her appearances popped up all through the invasions, but her existence was never fully confirmed. Due to her incredible strength and beauty, as well as the mystique surrounding her, her story has become common folklore and is often told to young children to inspire them. While her name is widely unknown, she's usually referred to as the "White Lotus Fist", after a white lotus emblem worn on her glove. There have been no reported sightings of her since the Cullings. Zylthis Savonti -Played by Zylthis The leader of the infamous Dream Chasers, Savonti was credited with leading his force to victory against the advancing hordes at the Western Gate of Prontera. However, after the Cullings, it was revealed that he was a willing participant in the attack, conspiring with the Orc hordes that led the assault. He is also believed responsible for the fall of Alberta, where a lone saboteur single-handedly broke the line of defense from within. While he was never brought to justice, he has been long since missing, and is presumed dead. |
